My son has a swollen ant bite on his forehead.?

My son is 15 1/2 months old. he has an extremely swollen ant bit on his forehead. He refuses to let me put ice on it so i have been giving him a medicine similar to benadryl ( for the bites) and also ibuprofen. Is it bad that its so swollen im worried but i dont want to sit hours and hours at the ER if its no big deal.
