Best shoes for 8 hour shifts at the nursing home?

I'm just a young pup starting out at the nursing home as an aide working 8 hour shifts 4+ days a week. I have had really bad back pain for awhile, from prior jarring and such. I have been told that it cannot be helped except with surgery so I just take ibuprofen. Ever since I started working by the time I get home my back and feet hurt so bad I don't know what to do. I take ibuprofen when I can and it doesn't touch it. I would like to find a new pair of shoes that aren't super expensive, or some good inserts since I am on my feet all day. I own a pair of Dr. Scholl's right now but it seems like my feet hurt even more than they would in my Puma's (which have NO support) I was wondering if any nurses could recommend something. I can't really afford nurse mates, but I'm open to suggestions
