Tetanus shot allergy?

Got a tetanus shot yesterday it is now swollen red when i say swollen i mean it looks like i have a twin on me it stings, hurts ,and itches like hell please tell me what to do.Called the doctor they told me to take some ibuprofen.My mother told me one time that when i was a baby i got very sick when i got a tetanus shot.
